Journal
Tarot Journal App for iPhone and iPad
A place to keep the readings that mattered.
Lantern Arcana is a tarot journal app for iPhone and iPad built around reflection.
Do a reading with your own physical cards or use a digital deck in Lantern. Then save the reading, write what stood out to you, and return to it later.
A tarot reading can make sense in the moment and mean something different months later. Your journal gives you a place to keep both.
The reading happens once. The reflection can keep changing.

What does a tarot journal app do?
A tarot journal gives you a record of the cards you drew, the question or intention you brought to the reading, and the thoughts you had afterward.
Lantern keeps those pieces together so you do not have to rely on memory or scatter readings across notes, photos, and notebooks.
Use it to:
- Save your tarot readings
- Record your own reflections
- Revisit previous readings
- Notice cards or themes that return over time
- Keep readings from physical and digital decks in one place
- Look back at your practice as it changes
Journal readings from your own physical tarot cards
Lantern was designed to work with the cards already on your table.
Shuffle your physical deck. Lay out your spread. Enter the cards manually or photograph the spread so Lantern can identify the cards.
After the reading, save it to your journal with your own reflections.
You do not need to switch to a digital tarot deck just because you want a digital journal.
Your physical practice can stay physical. The journal simply gives it a place to live afterward.
Write what the reading meant to you
Lantern can help you explore the symbolism and relationships in a reading, but the journal is where your own perspective belongs.
Record what caught your attention.
Write down what felt true, what did not, what surprised you, or what you want to think about later.
The goal is not to preserve a single "correct" interpretation. It is to keep a record of the conversation you were having with the cards at that moment.
Return to earlier readings
A journal becomes more useful with time.
A reading that seemed confusing when you first drew the cards may make more sense later. A card you barely noticed may become the part that matters most.
Lantern lets you return to previous readings and reflections so you can see them with the benefit of distance.
Seasonal trend analysis can also help you notice patterns across your practice over time.
What happens when I use my own tarot deck?
You can use any standard 78-card tarot deck with Lantern.
If you photograph your own deck to create a custom deck inside Lantern, those custom card images stay locally on your device.
For readings made with a personal deck, the journal records the card names rather than displaying your uploaded deck artwork.
Personal deck images are not included when you share a reading.
That keeps your personal deck artwork private and prevents user-uploaded copyrighted or inappropriate imagery from being distributed through Lantern.
Can I journal readings from digital tarot decks too?
Yes.
Lantern includes digital tarot decks for times when you do not have physical cards nearby or simply want to read digitally.
Readings from physical cards and digital decks can both become part of the same ongoing journal.
You do not have to choose one way to practice.
Why keep a tarot journal?
Tarot is often less interesting as a single answer than as a pattern that develops over time.
Keeping a journal can help you remember:
- What you were asking
- Which cards appeared
- How you understood them at the time
- What changed afterward
- Which symbols, themes, or cards keep returning
- How your own interpretations evolve
Lantern keeps that history close without asking the app to become the practice itself.
The cards give you the moment. The journal helps you remember what you saw in it.
A tarot journal that stays close to the cards.
Lantern Arcana is available for iPhone and iPad. Use your own physical tarot cards, choose a digital deck when you want one, and keep the readings worth returning to.
